Who We Are
The Bangladesh Coalition on Youth, Peace and Security (BCYPS)
The BCYPS is a network of individuals and organizations working or interested in Youth, Peace and Security with the primary purpose of uplifting each others’ work, advocacy and research. The BCYPS platform fosters a collaborative space for Bangladeshi young people and allies to share and exchange resources and opportunities to better engage in the United Nations’ Youth, Peace and Security Agenda locally, nationally and globally.
This coalition is a host for youth-led organisations, activists, advocates, and peacebuilders with government officials and national civil society organisations.
Our Approach
What is Youth, Peace & Security Agenda?
The Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS) agenda is a global framework that recognizes the crucial role of young people in promoting and maintaining peace and security.
The agenda emerged as a response to the distinct challenges faced by youth in conflict-affected areas and aims to empower young individuals as key contributors to peacebuilding and conflict resolution.
The United Nations Security Council Resolution 2250, adopted in 2015, was a landmark development that formally acknowledged the importance of youth in the maintenance and promotion of international peace and security.
The United Nations Security Council adopted unanimously, on 9 December 2015, a ground-breaking resolution on Youth, Peace and Security which recognizes that “young people play an important and positive role in the maintenance and promotion of international peace and security”.
UNSCR 2250 (2015) identifies five key pillars for action: participation, protection, prevention, partnerships and disengagement and reintegration. This landmark resolution urges Member States to give youth a greater voice in decision-making at the local, national, regional and international levels and to consider setting up mechanisms that would enable young people to participate meaningfully in peace processes.

Shammy Wadud
Lead, Partnership & Communications
Shammy is passionate about the synergies between YPS and Women, Peace and Security (WPS), gender-sensitive approaches to peacebuilding, peacebuilding in diaspora communities, and the protection of young people in conflict and peace.
Nasrin Jabin
Lead, Advocacy & Research
Nasrin is passionate about the participation of young people in decision-making and peacebuilding, including National Action Plans. She is focused on the institutionalization of peace and security through age- and gender-sensitive policymaking.
