Who We Are
The Bangladesh Coalition on Youth, Peace and Security (BCYPS) is a network of individuals and organizations working or interested in Youth, Peace and Security with the primary purpose of uplifting each others’ work, advocacy and research. The BCYPS platform fosters a collaborative space for Bangladeshi young people and allies to share and exchange resources and opportunities to better engage in the United Nations’ Youth, Peace and Security Agenda locally, nationally and globally.
Our mission is to promote peace and security among youth in Bangladesh through collaboration, dialogue and action. We aim to empower young people and encourage their participation in peacebuilding efforts.
Our vision is to create a society where youth can thrive in a peaceful and secure environment, free from violence and conflict.
What is Youth, Peace & Security?
The Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda was established by the United Nations Security Council through a series of resolutions recognizing the positive role young people play in conflict prevention, peacebuilding, and sustaining peace.
To date, the Security Council has adopted four resolutions on Youth, Peace and Security: Resolution 2250 (2015), Resolution 2419 (2018), Resolution 2535 (2020), and Resolution 2807 (2025). Resolution 2250 marked the first time the Security Council formally recognized youth as important actors in peace and security and established the foundation of the global YPS agenda. Resolution 2250
Resolution 2250 (2015) is the first Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) resolution and established the global policy framework recognizing young people as important actors in peace and security. It introduced the five pillars of the YPS agenda—participation, protection, prevention, partnerships, and disengagement and reintegration—and called for greater recognition of young people’s role in sustaining peace.
Resolution 2535
Resolution 2535 (2020) is the third YPS resolution and provides the most action-oriented guidance for implementing the agenda. It emphasizes youth leadership in peacebuilding and highlights the importance of partnerships between governments, the United Nations, and civil society, while recognizing links between the YPS agenda and other peace and security frameworks.
Resolution 2419
Resolution 2419 (2018) is the second YPS resolution and reinforces the positive role young people play in negotiating and implementing peace agreements. It encourages Member States and international actors to ensure meaningful youth participation in peace processes and conflict prevention efforts.
Resolution 2807
Resolution 2807 (2025) marks the tenth anniversary of the Youth, Peace and Security agenda and reaffirms the commitments of previous YPS resolutions. It calls for strengthened youth participation and leadership in peace processes, encourages Member States to develop or strengthen National Action Plans on YPS, and highlights the role of the UN Youth Office in advancing the agenda globally.
What We Do
We are a youth-led Coalition focused on elevating advocacy, work & research on Youth, Peace and Security at home and abroad.
Domestic
In Bangladesh, young people often don't see themselves as peacebuilders. We want to change that! We want to bring the Youth, Peace & Security agenda home by engaging in domestic issues of peace, security & social justice.
Global
We work to ensure young people's roles in peace & security are recognized, respected and amplified, including in international processes and policy spaces. Young people have a role to play in foreign policy!

Advocacy: Influencing Policy
We believe that young people should not only be recipients of government programming but should be at the centre of developing policies. We collaborate with our members, other civil society groups and government entities to bring relevant, strong and robust policy solutions that affect youth in peace and security matters.

Collaboration: Amplifying Efforts
Above all, we are activists. We believe in the principles outlined in the Youth, Peace and Security resolutions and create spaces for our voices to be heard.
This means, we believe in the principles of collaboration above competition. Together, we are stronger.

Research: Knowledge Creation
One of our key priorities is the creation and dissemination of evidence-based knowledge on Youth, Peace and Security. We support and encourage our members to contribute to peer-reviewed journals, books, and in other fora to raise awareness on the YPS agenda and gain credibility as the experts they are in the space.
